When I got up this morning, I turned on the local news. That flowed into Good Morning America, and they discussed this latest conflict. That inspired me to write a piece on my own blog.
If Israel would get off it's collective ass and give the Palestinians a truly independent, secure and contiguous homeland - and let them live in piece, instead of treating it like a giant prison camp (as they are doing with Gaza), some of these tragic events might not happen anymore.
But ever since the U.N. wiped Palestine off the map in 1948 and created Israel by mandate, there has been conflict. It will probably never completely end.
But leave the civilians alone. Hamas has been firing poorly-targeted rockets into civilian areas. That doesn't justify Israel's killing of civilians, mind you, but violence begets violence and it always will until humanity evolves further.
Agree: If the Israelis would get off their collective ass and treat the Palestinians like fellow human beings, most of these tragic events would not happen.
